Casssady Holloway had been waiting for a game like this to get rolling on offense.

She had been in a self described “slump” shooting the basketball. Shots just weren’t falling as she hoped they would and the junior guard wanted to break out of it.

With that in mind, Holloway returned to the shooting fundamentals of basketball. She kept her feet under her and shot the basketball in a set motion Tuesday night against Turner.

The result was that she finished with 16 points in a 61-24 victory against Turner on Tuesday.

“Probably the key to us winning was Cassady Holloway,” Oakes said. “She came out and probably had her best game for us. She basically kept her feet set and hit the first couple of shots. She kept going after that.”

Holloway said it was a nice to find her shot again.

“Yeah, I had been in a slump,” she said. “It was nice to get out of it.”

At the end of the first quarter, Bonner Springs maintained a slight edge, up just 12-11.

Holloway scored seven points in the second quarter, propelling the Braves to 17-point quarter. Bonner Springs held Turner to just five points in the quarter and led 29-16 at halftime.

The Braves outscored the Bears 49-14 in the final three quarters.

In the third quarter, the Braves outscored the Bears 24-4 with a balanced performance on offense.

Yessinia Hernandez scored eight points and Anna Deegan scored nine points in the quarter. Holloway scored seven points for the team.

Hernandez finished with a game-high 18 points and Deegan had 15 points.

The Braves allowed just two field goals in the quarter.

The fourth quarter of the game was played with a running clock. Bonner Springs outscored Turner 8-5 in the quarter. With the win, Bonner Springs (16-1) is able to put behind it a disappointing one-point loss to Mill Valley last Friday.

“Yeah, that was a tough loss, but for us to come out and play like this is a good thing,” Holloway said.

Bonner Springs hosts Tonganoxie at 6 p.m. on Friday.
