Bonner Springs swimmers take 5th at Turner
The Bonner Springs High School boys swimming team kicked off the 2012 schedule Thursday at the Turner Invitational, but the performance wasn’t up to the same standard that the Braves displayed during the December.
The result was a fifth-place finish out of six teams. Blue Valley finished first with 199 points, Coffeyville Field Kindley was second with 155 and Turner finished third with 63.
Blaine Edmondson recorded the Braves’ top performance of the day with his third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. His time of 2 minutes, 7.16 seconds was less than one second out of second place.
Edmondson added a fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.18.
Other top individual efforts came from Ryan Cook who finished fifth in the 50 freestyle in 25.40 and J.K. Kraus who took eighth in the 100 backstroke in 1:22.60.
The Braves also had a pair of fifth-place relay teams. The 200 medley relay squad of Kraus, Cook, Edmondson and Nate Mitchell took fifth in 2:04.29, and the same group took fifth in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:15.46.
