Letter: Memorial Day thanks
To the editor:
We wish to thank everyone who attended the 2012 Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 28, at the Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Special thanks to: Peter Klingele, Boy Scout Troop 149, and Jacob and Jimmy Klingele, Boy Scout Crew No. 2149, who were greeters and distributed the programs; Alfred Ramirez for the invocation and benediction; Mayor Clausie Smith, who was master of ceremonies; Elaine Berg and Brian Berg, who played duo taps; Councilmember George Cooper, who read two patriotic poems; Councilmember Bob Reeves, who made an informative presentation about the Cemetery; Skyler Ochoa for the solos; the VPW Post 6401, who placed United States flags on veterans’ graves, for the presentation of colors and for the 21-gun salute and to Jeff Harrington, who presented a donation from the city to the VFW Post 6401. The service was beautiful.
We wish to thank the Bonner Springs Public Works Staff for their hard work to maintain the Cemetery and to put up the Avenue of Flags. Thanks for all individuals and groups that donated for replacement flags to maintain the Avenue of Flags.
Thanks to all of you for your time and help improving the Bonner Springs Cemetery.
