2012 Kaw Valley League track and field meet
The Basehor-Linwood girls placed fourth and the boys placed fifth in the 2012 KVL track and field meet on Wednesday, May 9. Meanwhile, the Bonner Springs girls placed eighth and the Braves' boys team placed seventh in the event.
BLHS junior Matt Ogilvie narrowly missed qualifiying for the 110-meter hurdles final, placing ninth in the 15-athlete 4A preliminary event on Friday. Ogilvie raced to a 15.84 finish, three-tenths of a second behind eighth place.
BLHS senior Jesse Hiss placed 10th in the shot put, with a top throw of 46-09 feet.
The Bobcats’ boys 4-x-100-meter relay team of junior Trey Kincheloe, senior Zac Smith, senior Jesse Jones and junior Lane Young qualified for Saturday’s 4A state championship event, placing seventh in Friday’s preliminary event with a 44.38 finish.
Also in the event, Bonner Springs’ relay team (seniors J.J. Jackson and Blaine Edmondson and sophomores Austin Schuler and Jordan Jackson) placed 14th with a 45.57 finish.
The BLHS girls 4-x-100-meter relay team of freshmen Katie Hickman, Marriah Clayton, Sierra Smith and senior Dakkota Edmonds fell one-tenths of a second short of qualifying for the 4A state championship final. On Friday in Wichita, the team finished in 50.96. The four girls conclude a season together in which they shattered a Basehor-Linwood record in the event at the regional meet last week.

• Jordan Jackson (41-6), triple jump (competes Saturday)
• Anthony Kubas (41-2.5), triple jump (competes Saturday)
