Brackets released for BSHS boys, girls season-opening tournaments

Earlier this week, BSHS fans got a glimpse at the boys and girls basketball teams during the annual Black and Orange scrimmages. The girls team played four eight-minute quarters against members of the BSHS freshmen boys program. Meanwhile, for the third year, the boys team squared off against alumni.

Both the Bonner Springs boys and girls basketball teams will begin the season on the road in a pair of early season tournaments.

The boys team will open the Paola Tournament at Paola High as the No. 2 seed and will open against No. 7 Heritage Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 3. The winner will play the winner of No.3 Eudora vs. No. 6 Bishop Ward at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 4. The loser will play that game’s loser in the consolation bracket. Other teams in the Paola tournament include No. 1 Harmon, No. 4 Paola, No. 5 Bishop Seabury and No. 8 Piper. The champion game will be at 8 p.m. on Dec. 7.

The Bonner Springs girls team received the No. 1 seed in the Eudora Tournament and will open its season against No. 8 Turner at 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 3 at Eudora Middle School. The winner will meet the winner of No. 4 Bishop Ward and No. 5 Paola at 6:45 p.m. Dec. 4, preceded by the consolation bracket game at 5 p.m. Other teams in the tournament include No. 2 Highland Park, No. 3 Piper, No. 6 St. James and No. 7 Eudora.

The Eudora Tournament’s championship game will be played at 8 p.m. on Dec. 6 at Eudora High.
