Teen Read Week starts Sunday

October 9, 2012

Basehor Community Library has a week full of activities planned for local teenagers as part of Teen Read Week starting Sunday, Oct. 14.

On Oct. 17, the library invites teens to decorate graveyard cupcakes in spirit of the week’s theme “It Came from the Library.” Decorating is open between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., and the library will provide all the supplies.

The week will end with two teen coffeehouse events, one for high school students and one for middle school students. The high school coffeehouse will open at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, and will run until midnight. The middle school event will take place during the same time frame the following day, Saturday, Oct. 20.

Teens get the library to themselves for a night of reading poetry, drinking coffee, playing games and watching movies.

For more information about Teen Read Week, call the library at 913-724-2828.
