October 10, 2012

Basehor-Linwood girls golf placed fifth out of six teams at that 4A regional tournament in Ozawkie on Tuesday.

Senior Brooke Schler led the Bobcats, shooting a 106 to place 16th overall. Junior Candice Jennings placed 19th with a 110.

Sophomore Marriah Clayton (113) and junior Julie Lough (114) finished 25th and 27th, respectively.

The tournament followed up an eighth-place performance in the Basehor-Linwood Invitational on Thursday at Falcon Lakes.

Jennings and Schler tied for 25th place to lead Bobcats golfers. Jennings and Schler each shot a 108 at the tournament, followed closely by Lough with a 110. The Bobcats finished with a total score of 469.

Schler exits as the lone senior on this year’s team.

“She has been a great leader for our younger players,” Basehor-Linwoord coach Bruce Courtney said. “She will be missed next year. We will return the rest of the team, all whom I’m looking forward to seeing where they are after eight months of practicing and playing.”
