Boys soccer: Bobcats blanked, Braves draw second time in less than a week
September 20, 2012
Three first-half goals from Mill Valley's Hugh Ebb were too much for the Basehor-Linwood boys soccer team to overcome as the Jaguars downed the Bobcats 4-0 on Wednesday.
"We started the first 10 minutes very slow," coach Austin Knipp said. "We were unable to get into a groove as Mill Valley took us out by great passing."
The Bobcats fell to 3-6, their most recent victory coming Monday in a 3-0 win against Sumner Academy.
Knipp said the Bobcats' nerves receded in the second half and that Basehor-Linwood was able to compile a better final 40 minutes of play.
"We were able to work the ball around and get a few opportunities on goal," Knipp said.
The Jaguars' Jack Lopez came through with the dagger with just 34 seconds left in the match.
Basehor-Linwood returns to play when it hosts Piper at 6 p.m. on Monday.
Braves draw again
Still in search of their first victory this year, Bonner Springs instead had to settle for a second draw in less than a week. Against Perry-Lecompton, the Braves battled through two overtimes to move to 0-5-2 on the season.
They'll travel to Garnder-Edgerton for a 6 p.m. Monday road match.
