September 21, 2012
For the first time this season, Basehor-Linwood’s girls golf team sent six golfers to a tournament, placing fourth overall at the Spring Hill Invitational Wednesday at the Paola Country Club.
The Bobcats combined to shoot 236, 20 shots behind third-place Piper.
Brooke Schler finished just four strokes out of medaling, shooting a 54 to tie for 13th place. Julie Lough finished just three shots behind Schler, shooting a 57 to place 17th.
Candice Jennings shot a 60 to place 21st.
The tournament marked the debuts this season of Aubrey Gunn and Jordan Blackwell. Blackwell placed 26th with a 65, and Gunn shot a 72 to finish 30th.
“They were a little nervous but once they got out on the course and played a few holes they seemed to settle in,” Basehor-Linwood coach Bruce Courtney said.
