Senior living facility will open in late September
After breaking ground in February, the new Country Place Senior Living in Basehor is expected to be up and running by the end of summer.
Cheri Bauer, director of operations in Kansas, said late winter storms and wet weather have delayed construction a bit, but the facility is expected to be open to residents in late September.
The $2.7 million project at 15707 Pinehurst Drive will create 12 new full-time jobs positions and offer 22 suites for senior residents.
Mayor David Breuer said the new facility will provide a needed service in the community, as well as new jobs and more money in the local economy. More than anything, though, it offers seniors the opportunity to continue living in their hometown.
“It gives them a choice right here in their community,” he said.
Country Place offers assisted living, which allows residents to maintain their independence and take advantage, as needed, of services such as help with cooking, housekeeping, laundry, dressing, bathing, grooming and medication management.
In addition to the 22 private suites, the 15,000-square-foot facility will have large sitting and sleeping areas, a hospitality kitchen, dining area, indoor and outdoor social areas, a hospitality suite, library and more.
Country Place already operates 10 facilities in Kansas and specializes in senior care in rural and small town settings, Bauer said.
“That’s our niche,” she said. “We offer personal care in a smaller environment.”
