Briefly: Kasick, Lackner hit homers in BLHS softball sweep of BSHS; Hoffine has hat trick for Braves

A pair of Bobcats went the distance in a Basehor-Linwood softball sweep of Bonner Springs on Thursday.

Allison Kasick hit a homerun and had two RBIs in a 7-3 opening win, and Katie Lackner hit a homer of her own and had five RBI in a 12-0 nightcap victory in five innings.

Madison McDowell struck out nine BSHS batters in the opener, pitching a complete game, and Asia Larsen struck out four in five innings of work in the second game.

Kayleigh Schoenfelder led the Bobcats (6-4) in the opener with three hits and Donnelly had a triple. For BSHS (1-9), Cheyenne Hale and Annie Carpenter had two hits apiece in the opener, with Carpenter adding a double. Alexis Tendick and Mikaela Bennett each had an RBI.

Schoenfelder added another two RBI in the nightcap and McDowell had a single. Nichols finished the night with a stolen base in each game.

Cassady Holloway led the Braves with two hits and Brandy Brouhard hit a double in game two, and Hale and Carpenter each stole a base for the Braves.

The Bobcats return to play Monday against Lansing and continue league play Tuesday against Bishop Ward, both doubleheaders on the road. Bonner Springs, meanwhile, will host Washington on Monday.

Hoffine leads way in 10-0 BSHS soccer win

Haley Hoffine netted a hat trick for the Bonner Springs girls soccer team in a 10-0 win against Bishop Ward on Thursday.

The victory improved BSHS to 6-5. The Braves are scheduled to host Schlagle at 5 p.m. Friday.
