Christmas Celebration raises money for BLAS
More than 100 people turned out for the Basehor Chamber of Commerce Christmas Celebration on Dec. 5 held at the Falcon Lakes Golf Club and the event raised more than $1,600 for Basehor-Linwood Assistance Services.
The event featured a silent auction, dinner buffet and the presentation of a new commercial that will appear on KMBC-TV promoting the city of Basehor to potential new residents and businesses. The commercial will be displayed on the KMBC-TV website, according to chamber president Blake Waters, where more than 1 million website viewers per month will be able to see it. The commercial was funded by the chamber and by the City of Basehor.
The money raised for BLAS was from a combination of donations and bids made during this year’s silent auction. The top item sold during the silent auction was a Kansas City Chiefs autographed football donated by Mitch and Tami Holthus.
Providing Christmas and holiday music during the event was the Basehor-Linwood Mixed Chorus.
The Chamber of Commerce also held it’s annual meeting during the event and officially elected Ginny Cross of Country Place Senior Living, 15707 Pinehurst Drive, and Katherine Renn of the City of Basehor to the Chamber Board.
