Tonganoxie — The Bonner Springs wrestling team is in second place, while Basehor-Linwood checks in at seventh after one day of Class 4A regional tournament action in Tonganoxie.

The Braves had five wrestlers reach the finals in their respective weight classes and racked up 120.5 team points — second only to host school Tonganoxie's 148.5. Meanwhile, Basehor-Linwood has one finalist and 40.5 team points.

Josiah Seaton (106), Justus Seaton (113), D.J. Ballard (120), Jonathan Blackwell (152) and Aaron Puckett each punched their state tickets and will represent Bonner Springs in Saturday's championship round. Finals matchups are listed below.

Bryan Lanning (145) and Les Wessel (285) fell in the semifinals, but can clinch a state berth with one more win on Saturday. Opponents will be determined for both wrestlers when consolation cross-bracketing begins at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Braves have six other wrestlers still alive on the back side of the bracket, but each must win multiple matches to avoid elimination.

Basehor-Linwood's Cory McCleary (145) was the only Bobcat to wrestle his way to the finals. Shayne Morris (106), Sam Seaton (126) and John Hopper (152) reached the semifinals before suffering their first losses. All three can secure top-four finishes with one more win. Five other Bobcats are one win from elimination, but can still wrestle their way into the consolation finals with multiple wins.
