Bobcat wrestling struggles at state

— Basehor-Linwood entered Saturday's state competition in Salina with three wrestlers still vying for individual medals, but the team wasn't able to recover from a rough start.

All remaining Bobcats were eliminated before the medal rounds as the team finished with just five wins in 15 matches.

Cory McCleary (145) and Seagar Smith (285) each won their opening matches on Saturday, but both fell one victory shy of medaling when they were eliminated in the next round. Sam Seaton (126) saw his season come to an end when he dropped his first match of the day.

John Hopper (152) and Zack Carter (195) were both eliminated Friday after losing in the first and second rounds.

As a team, BLHS finished 35th with 11 points. Holton won the team title with 104.5 points.
