Burglers caught after car chase
Three men who attempted to break into a Bonner Springs home Wednesday were later caught after leading police on a car chase into Kansas City, Kan.
Lt. Rick Schubert of Bonner Springs police said about 11 a.m. Wednesday, the suspects broke a basement window of a home in the 800 block of Allcutt and attempted to gain access. However, the homeowner was home at the time and when he yelled at the suspects, they fled the scene in their vehicle.
Edwardsville police later located the vehicle and began pursuit, following the car into Kansas City, Kan., where Kansas City Kansas Police Department became involved in the chase. Police eventually were able to stop the vehicle, but the three suspects fled the vehicle on foot. Police captured two of the suspects and have identified the third, though they have yet to apprehend him.
Upon further investigation, Schubert said police tied the suspects to a burglary committed earlier in the day at a home in Leavenworth. The property in that burglary was recovered.
Schubert said charges are expected to be filed today against the three suspects.
