Wyandotte County Fair begins next week
The Wyandotte County Fair runs Tuesday through Saturday next week, with free concerts, a carnival and other entertainment at the fairgrounds, just off Kansas Highway 7 at 13700 Polfer Road in Kansas City, Kan.
Free concerts will be available each day, with area country band County Road 5 performing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, the Sully Brothers at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and the FAIR Mounters at 7 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, the Prairie Praise Band will perform at 2 p.m., and Piper Bible Church will offer Gospel Night at 5 p.m. The Magnificent Bang Bangs will perform at 7:30 p.m.
In the arena area, Motocross will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, and a Demolition Derby is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday. At 9 a.m. Saturday, the Legends Jackpot Steer & Heifer Show will take place, and then the Mud Run will begin at 6 p.m.
Ticket prices for arena events are $5 for children ages 6-12 and seniors ages 65 and up, and $10 for adults.
The carnival will have wristband nights Tuesday and Wednesday for $15. Rides will operate 5-10 p.m. Tuesday – Thursday and 5-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Other attractions available from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, include a petting zoo, pony and camel rides and the NASA Experience. Pig races will take place at 6, 7 and 9 p.m. daily, and free tethered hot-air balloon rides will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, weather permitting. Helicopter Rides will be available 2-10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday for a cost of $35 per person.
