City council reviews new insurance premiums
Basehor City Council discussed renewing its property and liability insurance at its brief meeting Monday night.
The city’s current property insurance with Reilly and Sons through EMC Underwriters, which expires March 31, has provided a preliminary estimate of $55,970 for year 2013-14. That figure is an 18 percent increase from last year’s $47,194, but the final cost is likely to be less, City Clerk Corey Swisher said.
The $55,970 is based on the value of what’s being insured, which is still being evaluated.
“It’s very probable that number will come down,” Swisher said.
The council will vote on the issue at its meeting Monday, March 18.
