Boys tennis, golf 2013 regional sites unveiled
The Kansas State High School Activities Association unveiled its regional assignments for boys tennis and boys golf this week.
The BSHS boys tennis team will compete May 3 at Hayden High School, 401 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka. Also competing will be Atchison, De Soto, Sumner Academy, Ottawa, Paola, Spring Hill, Hayden and Highland Park.
The top six singles and top six doubles finishers at each regional tournament qualify for the Class 4A state tennis tournament at Wichita-Collegiate High, 1221 N. Webb Road, Wichita.
Meanwhile, the Basehor-Linwood and BSHS boys golf teams will be competing at separate regional sites this season. The Bobcats will travel to the Atchison-hosted 4A regional on May 13 at Bellevue Country Club, 1713 Country Club Road, Atchison. BLHS will be joined by Atchison, Holton, Royal Valley, Piper, Bishop Ward, Jefferson West, Perry-Lecompton, Tonganoxie and Hayden.
Also on May 13, the BSHS boys golf team will travel to Shawnee for the De Soto-hosted regional at the Shawnee Golf & Country Club, 6404 Hedge Lane Terrace, Shawnee. The Braves will compete against Baldwin, Santa Fe Trail, De Soto, Anderson County, Louisburg, Osawatomie, Ottawa, Paola and Spring Hill.
In the Class 4A regionals, the top two teams at each tournament plus the next five lowest individual scores that are not members of a qualifying team will advance to the 4A state tournament on May 20 at Cheney Oaks Golf Course, 1119 N. Main, Cheney.
Regional assignments for baseball, softball, girls soccer and track and field have yet to be announced.
