BSHS baseball roughed up at Tonganoxie
Tonganoxie The Bonner Springs baseball team couldn’t hold an early lead Tuesday at Tonganoxie, as it dropped an 11-4 decision to its Kaw Valley League opponent.
The Braves (2-17) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, including an RBI by Darian Neal, but the Chieftains went in front with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third. Roman Glenn tied the game with an RBI in the fourth, but THS went back in front with a run in the home half of the inning.
The Chieftains blew the game wide open with a seven-run fifth inning, highlighted by a grand slam by Shane Levy. Neal drove in another run in the seventh, but that’s as close as the Braves got. With the win, THS avenged an extra-inning loss to BSHS in last month’s Butch Foster Memorial Classic. The Braves received the No. 9 seed in their Class 4A regional bracket and will play No. 8 Eudora (5-11) at 2 p.m. Monday in a play-in game at Spring Hill High.
