BLHS, BSHS team up to raise funds for ailing local teen
Bonner Springs High School and Basehor-Linwood High School will team up next month to raise money and awareness for a local teen diagnosed with a fatal disease.
Jessica Masoner has been diagnosed with Lafora, which is a rare, severe and deadly form of epilepsy. Her family is in desperate need of a handicap-accessible van to transport her to and from her doctor appointments.
The high schools are selling T-shirts for the Dec. 17 at the USD 204 District Physical Education Center, when Bonner plays Basehor in basketball. Those who purchase the $8 shirt are asked to wear it to the game. All money raised will be donated to Jessica's family for a van.
The goal is to raise $6,000, as the students have secured the help of an “angel donor” who will match the funds raised up to $5,000.
Order forms are available and may be returned to each school’s front office or can be downloaded via the link to the left. The students also have created a YouTube video explaining the project, which can be found here.
