Deputies searching for armed robbery suspect
The Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a 20-year-old Lansing man suspected of robbing a Leavenworth man at gunpoint at about 5:30 p.m. Friday.
According to Major Jim Sherley of the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect brandished a 9 mm handgun and robbed a 19-year-old man in the 23000 block of 147th Street in the Fairmount Township. The victim told deputies, according to Sherley, that the suspect fled toward Lansing on 147th Street in a black Chevrolet sedan after taking an unspecified amount of cash. The sheriff’s office issued a be-on-the-lookout alert to area law enforcement in an attempt to locate the vehicle and suspect on Friday. Sherley said that deputies, after patrolling the area, could not find the suspect.
Sherley did not identify the suspect but said the investigation is ongoing.
