Bobcat boys win Pleasant Ridge title
The Basehor-Linwood boys cross country team will enter Thursday's Kaw Valley League meet with some momentum, as it wrapped up its regular season Oct. 10 with a team title at the Pleasant Ridge Invitational in Easton.
Four Bobcats finished in the top five and six in the top 10 as the team finished with a score of 21. BLHS beat out Tonganoxie (46), host Pleasant Ridge (80), Jefferson County North (106) and Atchison (127) for the team title.
Luke McGowan led the charge, finishing second individually with a time of 17:52.55. He was followed by Tanner Tavis (18:07.28), Johnny Fulkerson (18:15.73) and Zach McKnight (18:19.95), who occupied spots 3-5.
Mark Vitt (18:31.82) and Casey Jones (18:56.25) also earned top-10 finishes, coming in seventh and 10th, respectively. Jacob Cook (15th, 19:39.59) rounded out team scoring.
The Bobcat girls finished second with a team score of 54, coming in behind champion Tonganoxie (32) and ahead of Pleasant Ridge (63), JCN (75) and McLouth (149).
Quinn Walcott paced BLHS with a third-place time of 16:56.92. Rebecca Carroll (ninth, 17:35.46) was the only other Bobcat to finish in the top 10, but Ally Laney (14th, 18:06.75) and Calder Hollond (15th, 18:09.9) rounded out the top 15.
Sara Rehm (25th, 19:18.78) was the final Bobcat to figure into team scoring, but Erin Leach (29th, 19:36.18) and Claire Walsh (32nd, 20:30.38) also ran at the meet.
Thursday's KVL meet is set for 4 p.m. at Ken Bernard Park in Lansing.
