Mill Valley-BLHS football game moved to Friday because of lightning
Basehor-Linwood and Mill Valley were set for a Thursday night showdown.
There was one catch: The weather didn’t want to cooperate.
First, the clouds rolled in from the west and the rain began to fall. Lightning flashed and thunder boomed as fans from both sides started to trickle into the parking lot, yet smartly waited inside their cars.
As the rained started to lighten up around the scheduled kickoff time of 7 pm, there was a glimmer of hope the game would be played, but the lightning continued to light up the sky.
The latest the teams would have kicked off would have been 8:15 p.m. after waiting 30 minutes for lightning and another 30 minutes for the Bobcats and Jaguars to warm up.
But the lightning kept striking.
They would have waited longer, but Mill Valley has school Friday unlike BLHS.
The teams will try again Friday night with kickoff scheduled for 7 pm..
