10th annual golf tournament raises more than $12,000
The Basehor-Linwood Education Foundation’s 10th annual golf tournament at Falcon Lakes Golf Club had its biggest showing ever with more than 80 golfers participating and raising $12,981 for the foundation.
Through local business and corporate sponsorships of individual holes and a successful raffle, Basehor-Linwood School District Communication Coordinator Ashley Razak said, the tournament reached record breaking success. Usually, Razak said, the tournament brings in about $10,000.
Teams of three-to-four competed in the tournament in two separate groups. First place winners from the first group were Basehor Mayor David Breuer, Mark Loughry, RJ Oplinger and Matt Rose. First place winners from the second group were John Hofer, Neil Wachter and Pat Crouch of team Preferred Physical Therapy.
In individual hole contests, Neil Wachter won straightest drive, Julian Espinoza won longest putt, TJ Mallory won longest drive for men, Brenda DeGroot won longest drive for women, and Matt Rose won the closest to the pin contest. Kathy Seber won the putting contest.
