Robinson to play volleyball at UCCS
After helping the Basehor-Linwood volleyball team reach new heights in the last two years, Bobcat senior Hailey Robinson is ready to take her game to the collegiate ranks.
Robinson recently signed a national letter of intent to play next season at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
One of two seniors this season, Robinson led BLHS to a combined 43-38 record in her final high school campaign, including an 11-3 mark in Kaw Valley League play. Her junior season ended with the team's first-ever trip to the state tournament after the Bobcats swept three straight teams at their sub-state tournament at Tonganoxie.
Robinson, who is currently playing her final season with the Bobcat girls soccer team, was a role player in several areas in her senior volleyball season, ranking near the top of the roster in multiple statistical categories. She was third on the team with 63 digs, fifth with 25 service aces and was good on 92.5 percent of her serves.
BLHS put itself in position to return to state in 2013, but came up short against Piper in the sub-state championship match.
Robinson will join a UCCS team that went 11-16 under coach Chrissy Elder in 2013. The Mountain Lions finished with a 7-12 record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, good for ninth in the league standings.
