Born: St. Francis, Kan.
Family: Wife Kathryn (celebrated their 35th anniversary this year), son Nate and his wife Erin and their grandson Fulton, daughter Sarah Beardslee and her husband Michael and their daughter Adelyn.
Occupation: Basehor and Piper Market President at First State Bank and Trust
Dream job as a child: Waters always thought he would be a farmer and he would've been the fourth generation in his family to become one if it wasn't for the 1970's and 1908s farm crisis in western Kansas.
"I thought that was where I would live the rest of my live," Waters said.
He graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in agriculture with a business background and eventually decided to work for the Federal Lank Bank Association of Colby, Kan. That's where he began his banking career.
"I had to seek another option," Waters said. "And it turned out pretty well."
Digging deeper: Waters moved to Basehor from Garden City eight years ago and found a welcoming place to call home. Before long, Waters became involved in several local organizations like the Basehor Chamber of Commerce, of which he is now the president.
He said that volunteering has always been an important part of his life.
"I think we all need to carve out time in our lives to give back to the community that we live in," Waters said.
Waters said his favorite aspect of volunteering with the Chamber of Commerce is cooperating with local business owners and community members and the ribbon cutting events the chamber hosts.
In addition to his career and passion for volunteering, Waters is a family man.
His mother, Carol Stouffer, live just down the road in Tonganoxie and his daughter Sarah Beardslee has bee able to spend some time home recently before moving to the west coast. Waters' son Nate lives in Holly Ridge, North Carolina, with his wife and son.
