BLHS wrestlers win dual at Ottawa
KVL tournament up next for Bobcats
After more than a week away from the mat, the Basehor-Linwood wrestling team closed out the dual portion of its schedule Tuesday with a 41-27 win in non-league action at Ottawa.
The Bobcats, who posted a 10-1 dual record this season, went a combined 9-5 with three pins and two technical falls against the Cyclones. Corbin Nirschl (106 pounds), Dominic Foster (220) and Bret Fritz (285) each pinned their opponents, while Cory McCleary (160) and Zach Holtgrewe (182) won by scores of 20-3 and 17-0, respectively.
Other Bobcats to win Tuesday were Rylan Hawthorne (126), Justin Phillips (132), Josh Summers (145) and John Hopper (152).
The dual was originally scheduled for Feb. 6 and was supposed to be a triangular with Mill Valley, but because of recent inclement weather and scheduling conflicts, the Jaguars traveled Friday to Ottawa. The Bobcats will see MVHS Saturday at the Kaw Valley League tournament. Action is set for 8 a.m. at Piper.
