Regional wrestling brackets released

Corbin Nirschl won a 106-pound title Saturday at the Dick Burns Mat Classic in Bonner Springs. Basehor-Linwood also won the team title with 208.5 points.

Brackets for this week's Class 4A regional wrestling tournament in Holton were released Wednesday night by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.

Basehor-Linwood will have 12 wrestlers in action at the two-day tournament, which begins at 1:30 p.m. Friday. John Hopper (152) and Cory McCleary (160) received first-round byes, so they won't know their first opponents until the opening round concludes Friday. The remaining Bobcats' first opponents are listed below.

Friday's action will conclude with championship semifinals. The tournament will resume at 10 a.m. Saturday with consolation cross-bracketing. The top four finishers in each weight class will advance to the 4A state tournament, which starts Feb. 28 in Salina.
