Following the completion of the 2014 spring sports season, 12 Basehor-Linwood athletes have received All-Kaw Valley League sports in their respective sports, including a trio of first-team softball selections.

Seniors Katie Lackner and Candice Jennings and junior Madison McDowell each earned first-team softball nods after leading the Bobcats to their third KVL title in four years. Lackner, an outfielder, will play next season at Highland Community College, while Jennings, an infielder, will play at Neosho County Community College. McDowell, one of several regular starters back next season, earned a first-team selection as a pitcher.

Other BLHS softball selections were second-team infielder Allison Kasick, who will join Lackner at Highland, and honorable mentions Kayleigh Schoenfelder (infield) and Gaby Brown (catcher). The Bobcats went 17-5 this season, falling to Piper in a Class 4A-I regional championship game.

Senior Avery Fliger headlines a list of five Bobcats on the All-KVL baseball team. Fliger, a pitcher, earned second-team honors after nearly sending BLHS to state. The senior allowed just three hits and no earned runs over eight complete innings in a 2-1, nine-inning loss to Tonganoxie in the regional finals.

Jake Hahn (infield), Andrew Magana (pitcher), Ashton Findley (designated hitter) and Dalton Inlow (outfield) each received honorable mentions. The Bobcats went 9-13 in coach Jeff Vestal's first season.

Senior Hailey Robinson was the only Bobcat selected to the all-league soccer team. Robinson, who will play volleyball next year at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, earned a second-team nod as a defender. BLHS went 4-12 in its first year under coach Erik Jones.
