Basehor Lion’s Club charity poker run on June 28
Basehor The Basehor Lions Club is organizing its first charity poker run, motorcycle and car rally on for June 28 to raise money for local scholarships and the Lions Sight Foundation.
Called "Aces and Asphalt," the charity poker run will begin at 11 a.m. at Twisters Bar and Grill on Kansas Avenue then travel to Kobes in Bonner Springs, Slow Ride in Lawrence, Helen's Hill Top in Tonganoxie, and will end at Shark's Cove in Basehor. The rally will last several hours and will travel 60 miles.
Organizer Doug Bittel said people are invited to participate with their favorite ride, whether it's a car, motorcycle, tractor or skateboard.
“We’re testing the waters to see if we can get people out for this to raise some money,” Bittel said.
Prizes will be offered to the poker run winners including prizes for the best three hands of the day. Registration is $30 and the first 40 entrants get t-shirts. All proceeds from the event go to the Lions SIght Foundation and BLHS Senior Scholarships.
