Basehor-Linwood track teams shine in Baldwin
The Basehor-Linwood girls and boys track and field squads had strong showings at the 49th annual Baldwin Invitational last week, finishing third and fourth in the teams standings, respectively.
The Lady Bobcats finished with a total of 93.83 points, proceeded only by Baldwin (155.33) and Pittsburg (110.5). Twelve schools participated in the event.
First-place finishers for Basehor-Linwood included Sierra Smith in the triple jump (35-05.00) and the long jump (15-11.00), and Quinlynn Walcott, who set a new meet record in 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 7:37.32.
Katey Trower took second place in the shot put (35-10.50) and snagged a third-place finish in the javelin throw (115-01). Walcott also captured a third-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.41, and Basehor-Linwood’s 4x400-meter relay team took third with a time of 4:31.91.
The Basehor-Linwood boys finished fourth with 74.5 points, preceded by Baldwin (127), Blue Valley Southwest (116) and Pittsburg (77).
First-place finishers for the Bobcats included Eric Scott in the high jump (6-04.00) and Hunter Taylor in the 300-meter hurdles (43.88). Scott also took second in the long jump (20-11.00), and Taylor took second in the 110-meter hurdles (16.29).
Third-place finishers for Basehor-Linwood included Trevor Kincheloe in the high jump (5-08.00) and the Bobcats’ 4x800-meter relay team, which finished with a time of 8:54.60.
