Basehor-Linwood Middle School names new principal
At Monday’s USD 458 Board of Education meeting, the board approved the appointment of Amy Garver as principal at Basehor-Linwood Middle School for the 2015-16 school year.
Garver has been the school’s assistant principal for the last five years. She earned a degree in elementary education from Fort Hays State University and a masters in education from MidAmerica Nazarene University. She also earned a second masters in educational leadership from Pittsburg State University.
Garver was recognized as the Kansas Association of Middle School Administrators’ Exemplary Assistant Principal of the Year in 2013.
Garver will assume the role of principal Aug. 1. Mike Wiley, current BLMS principal, accepted a position in the Olathe school district at California Trail Middle School.
Also at Monday’s meeting, it was announced that Basehor-Linwood High School seniors Kennedy Bowers and Daniel Tady have been named Kansas Governor’s Scholars, representing the top academic 1 percent of Kansas high school seniors. They will be recognized at a banquet May 3 at Washburn University.
