LCHS hires firm to design future shelter
Leavenworth County Humane Society announced via Facebook earlier this month that it has selected JE Dunn and Treanor Architects to help the organization design/build the LCHS, Inc. no-kill pet animal shelter in the Lansing Business Center.
Once LCHS obtains a building permit from the city of Lansing, it will begin a capital campaign to raise construction funds, around $3 million to construct an estimated 11,000 square foot facility. LCHS is planning a shelter to house approximately 76 cats and 62 dogs. LCHS expects it will take about 2 years to raise the necessary funding.
Concurrent with the capital campaign, LCHS plans to propose sheltering contracts to Basehor, Easton, Lansing, Linwood and Tonganoxie as well as to Leavenworth County for services beginning in 2018.
