BLHS student earns first in state academic competition
Three Basehor-Linwood High School students attended the FCCLA State meeting April 13-14 in Wichita, one of them earning a gold medal.
BLHS members in attendance were Katelynn Singleton, Alyssa Johnson and Kylie Odgen.
Singleton participated in a STAR Event (Students Taking Action for Recognition) called Teach & Train, preparing an electronic portfolio and presenting a 10-minute oral presentation to a panel of judges, outlining her experiences and how her Family & Consumer Science coursework prepared her for teaching.
Singleton earned a Gold Medal First Place, receiving a perfect score from all three judges. She will represent BLHS and Kansas at the National FCCLA Meeting in July in Washington, D.C.
