Basehor-Linwood girls take second at BS Invite

The Basehor-Linwood girls track and field team took second place as a team at the Bonner Springs Invitational on Thursday evening, scoring a total of 121 points. Lansing won the invitational with a total of 183.5, and Atchison took third place with a total of 110.5.

The Lady Bobcats had two individual first-place finishers with Katie Fulkerson in the 800-meter run (2:40.07) and Cassandra Beattie in the 100-meter hurdles (17.05). They also took first in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 10:39.00. That team was comprised of Beattie, Fulkerson, Rylea Oliver and Madison Wheeler.

Second-place finishers for Basehor-Linwood included Oliver in the 1,600-meter run (6:01.41), Jensen Walcott in the 100-meter hurdles (18.46) and Sierra Smith in both the long jump (15-08.00) and the triple jump (35-03.50).

Individual third-place finishers for the Lady Bobcats included Marriah Clayton in the 100-meter dash (12.88) and Quinnlyn Walcott in the 3,200-meter run (12:04.98). Basehor-Linwood also took third in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 52.26. That team was comprised of Clayton, Smith, Madison Howard and Cassie Tucker.

Individual fourth-place finishers for Basehor-Linwood included Howard in the 400-meter dash (1:08.35), Beattie in the 300-meter hurdles (54.41), Tucker in the long jump (14-06.25), Brianne Kennedy in the shot put (29-01.75) and Ashley Novo-Gardac in the javelin (86-00).

The Lady Bobcats also finished fourth in the 4x100-meter throwers relay with a time of 1:04.98. Basehor-Linwood took fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:29.41. That team was comprised of Beattie, Smith, Howard and Rachel Hiss. The Lady Bobcats took fourth in the 800-meter sprint medley relay with a time of 2:01.52. That team was comprised of Howard, Hiss, Katie Hickman and Abigail Lee.

Fifth-place finishers for Basehor-Linwood included Jensen Walcott in the 300-meter hurdles (56.31) and Kennedy in the discus (87-00.50). Sixth-place finishers included Mikayla Wheeler in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs (6:26.45, 14:06.72), Maddie Bergman in the triple jump (29-05.00), Mackenzie Tickles in the shot put (26-11.00) and Emily Vitt in the discus (86-09.00).

The Bonner Springs girls finished sixth as a team, scoring a total of 37 points. The Lady Braves were led by their 4x100-meter throwers relay team, which took first with a time of 1:01.52.

Bonner Springs took second place in the 800-meter sprint medley relay with a time of 2:01.52. That team was comprised of Jonita Francis, Alyssa Driskell, Arrionna Holiday and Carletta Hill.

Third-place finishers for the Lady Braves included Francis in the 200-meter dash (27.42) and Shaunie Lanning in the javelin (90-05.00). Francis also took fourth place in the 100-meter dash (13.11).

Bonner Springs took fifth place in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 55.75. That team was comprised of Francis, Hill, Holiday and Driskell. Alexis Seachrist finished sixth in the javelin (81-11.00).
