Basehor-Linwood tops Bonner Springs in opener
The Basehor-Linwood boys basketball team kicked off the 2015-16 season in impressive fashion on Friday evening, defeating Kaw Valley League rival Bonner Springs 74-45 at home.
The Bobcats (1-0) were led by senior point guard Jahron McPherson, who poured in a game-high 23 points. Nick Fisher finished with 18 points, and Jack Dale added 10.
Bonner Springs (0-1) was led by Devante McGee, who scored 20 points. Jamison Jackson was the team’s second-leading scorer with eight points.
The Bobcats jumped out to 19-13 lead in the first quarter and outscored the Braves 42-21 in the second and third quarters combined.
Basehor-Linwood will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday as it plays host to Topeka Hayden. Bonner Springs will be competing in the Eudora tournament starting on Tuesday.
