Name: Matthew Drake

Birthplace: Overland Park, though Drake grew up in Tonganoxie

Family: Three brothers and two step-siblings.

Occupation: Chiropractor and owner of Drake Chiropractic and Rehab, 1106 N. 155th St., Basehor

Dream job as a child: Chiropractor.

Drake said he had decided on his future profession by age 13.

"I had a few dream jobs growing up, but I really got interested in this at 13 because I had so many issues myself, playing sports and being injured," he said.

Service: Drake is involved with the Basehor Chamber of Commerce and hopes to get more involved with youth sports for Basehor-Linwood schools.

Digging deeper: Drake opened his Basehor office in 2013 with just 200 square feet and has grown from there in the last two years. He said he looked in many areas when he was looking to start a practice, but he was drawn back to Leavenworth County.

"I realized I really didn't want to stray away from a small town and enjoy being in the community," he said.

Since then the office has grown, and this month Drake Chiropractic was named the Basehor Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month.

The practice recently added another chiropractor, Sarah Froehlich, who was a classmate of Drake's at Cleveland Chiropractic College. Froehlich specializes in pregnancy and pediatric chiropractic services, and she is currently earning a post-doctorate certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

Drake has extensive training in muscle injury and rehabilitative exercise techniques, and he said the closest chiropractor offering these specialized services is about 15 miles away.

Both Drake and Froehlich are now Basehor residents and say they hope to become more involved in the community.

"We're super excited for the future and hope to be here a lot of years," Drake said.
