Several Basehor-Linwood track and field athletes competed at the Class 4A state championships over the weekend at Wichita State University’s Cessna Stadium.
Eric Scott earned a bronze medal in the boys high jump with a mark of 6-08.00, and Sierra Smith took fourth in the girls triple jump with a mark of 35-04.00.
Smith also took fifth in the long jump (16-09.00), and Quinnlyn Walcott finished fifth in the 3,200-meter run (11:45.98).
Basehor-Linwood’s 4x800-meter relay team of Garrett Cook, Lukas Tucker, Kurtis Tatkenhorst and Keegan Gore took eighth with a time of 8:35.86. The girls took eighth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 52.19. That team was comprised of Smith, Madison Howard, Katey Trower and Marriah Clayton.
