Two Basehor men killed in Saturday crash near Eudora
Two Basehor men are dead, and one Basehor man has been arrested, following a Saturday morning crash near Eudora.
About 5 a.m., a southbound 2002 Chevrolet S10 was nearing the Kansas River Bridge on County Road 1 when it left the roadway and struck a tree, said Maj. James Sherley of the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office. Passengers Jesse Aldrich, 29, and Justin Wilson, 34, were pronounced dead at the scene, Sherley said. Both men were from Basehor.
The driver of the vehicle, William Wilson, 20, also of Basehor, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was arrested on traffic-related charges, Sherley said.
“We are looking at the possibility of alcohol as a contributing factor,” he added.
No further details were available Saturday night. Police say William Wilson's charges will be announced after his first court appearance.
KCTV 5 is reporting that the men were to participate in a wedding later Saturday at Holy-Field Vinyard in Basehor; the wedding was postponed. The station reports that Aldrich was the nephew of Justin Wilson, that William Wilson was brother of the groom-to-be, and that all were to be groomsmen in the ceremony.
