Basehor-Linwood girls take second at Piper
The Basehor-Linwood girls track and field team took second place at the Piper Invitational on Friday, scoring a total of 116 points.
The Lady Bobcats were preceded only by host Piper, which finished with a total of 126 points. Tonganoxie (114), St. Thomas Aquinas (44) and Lansing (41) rounded out the top five.
Sierra Smith led the way for Basehor-Linwood, winning both the long jump (16-02.00) and the triple jump (33-10.00). Marriah Clayton took first place in the 100-meter dash (13.02), and Quinnlyn Walcott won the 3,200-meter run.
The Lady Bobcats had a pair of individual second-place finishers with Cassie Beattie in the 100-meter hurdles (17.37) and Brianne Kennedy in the discus (97-10).
Basehor-Linwood also took second place in the 4x100- and 4x800-meter relay events with times of 51.62 and 10:30.13, respectively. The Lady Bobcats’ 4x400-meter relay team took third place with a time of 4:20.18, and Rachel Hiss took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.00.
Basehor-Linwood had two fourth-place finishers with Madison Howard in the 100-meter hurdles (13.52) and Rylea Oliver in the 3,200-meter run.
The Lady Bobcats had seven fifth-place finishers with Claire Walsh in the 100-meter hurdles (18.45), Hiss in the 100-meter dash (13.66), Katie Fulkerson in the 800-meter run (2:40.00), Beattie in the 300-meter hurdles (53.56), Madison Bergman in the long jump (15-04.00), Megan Langford (89-10.50) and Kennedy in the shot put (29-11.00).
Basehor-Linwood had three sixth-place finishers with Jensen Walcott in the 100-meter hurdles (18.50), Cassie Tucker in the triple jump (30-07.00) and Emily Vitt in the discus (84-11).
