Basehor-Linwood softball falls in regional finals

The Basehor-Linwood softball team saw its season come to a close with a 2-0 loss to Kaw Valley League rival Piper on Tuesday evening in the Class 4A-Division I regional championship game at Bishop Miege High School.
The Lady Pirates (19-3) scored one run in each of the first two innings and received a one-hit shutout from pitcher Abbey Henry, who struck out 11 batters and walked just one.
Brooklyn Lauritzen got the scoring started with a solo home run to center field in the first inning, and Kia Boyd came home on a ground ball hit by Saundra Gossarand in the second.
Kali Jacobson recorded the only hit for the Lady Bobcats, who finished the season with an 18-3 record.
