10 Years Ago: Sept. 15, 2005
Bonner Springs-Edwardsville USD 204 District voters approved an $18.7 million bond issue by a vote of 554 “yes” to 375 “no.”
The Bonner Springs Rotary met at the new dining hall at Camp Naish. After dinner Bruce and Del Coleman conducted a tour of the camp.
John Leaphart II was the featured speaker at the annual banquet of the Bonner Springs Branch of the NAACP.
Lori Zych was the new volleyball coach for the Basehor-Linwood 8th Grade team.
25 Years Ago: Sept. 13, 1990
The annual United Way campaign was set to start. Sue Stinnett was Bonner Springs-Edwardsville chairperson.
Sam Kemler was chairman of the annual Community Bloodmobile visit to Basehor.
Class presidents at Basehor-Linwood High School were: Carrie Long, freshman; Angie Libel, sophomores; Curtis Yohon, juniors and Michael, Lynn, seniors.
Don Stokesbury, principal, started a campaign to raise money to build a new dressing room at the high school football field.
50 Years Ago: Sept. 9, 1965
Mayor Marion Vaughn organized a meeting to set up an organization to fight poverty in western Wyandotte County.
The Bonner Springs City Council accepted the low bid of $24,455 from the R. E. Meeker Company to construct a new water treatment plant.
John Jons was president of the Basehor High School senior class. Other class presidents were Bill Keithley, junior class; Larry Jennings, sophomore and Gary Sorensen, freshman.
The Bonner Springs City Council authorized the expenditure of $200 for winter clothing for the police department.
100 Years Ago: Sept. 9, 1915
The Bonner Springs City Council voted to pave Emerson Avenue between Pine and Spruce.
Bonner Springs Junior High and High School had an enrollment of 154 students which was an increase from 110 students the previous year.
The Ladies of the Bonner Springs Methodist Church held a fund raising chicken dinner.
Constable Warren arrested two men on bootlegging charges. They were selling whiskey from a tent set up in Deep Hollow.
