Some 25 cars are parked on the grass Friday afternoon. Many bear Kansas license plates, but there are others. One vehicle is from Texas. Another has Oklahoma tags. California even has representation, as does Virginia.

- A Leavenworth County liquor store allegedly sold liquor to a minor during an undercover operation conducted by the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office and Alcohol Beverage Control. Between 2 and 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, the Sheriff’s Office and ABC sent a 19-year-old into nine liquor stores in the county with the intent to purchase liquor.
