Tomas M. Overby 1947 - 2008

Services for Thomas M. Overby, 61, of Bonner Springs, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.
Mr. Overby died Sunday June 8, 2008.
He was born Jan. 21, 1947, in Parsons, Kan., the son of Don and Betty Overby.
Mr. Overby grew up in and attended Parsons Schools. He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force with the Special Forces. He worked at the MKT Railroad as an engineer, relocating in 1976 to Shawnee.
He was active in economic development in downtown Kansas City, Kan. In the past five years he and his wife were actively pursuing their dream The Kansas Landmark Tower of which she will continue with in his honor.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Overby, of the home; his two daughters Michelle "Shelly" Burge, Shawnee, and Yvette Clifton, South Carolina; and their mother, Lora Overby; a stepson, Nate Lloyd, of the home; four grandchildren; and two brothers Jon and Jim Overby.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at the funeral home.

How has the recent heat advisory altered your daily activities?

“Actually, we’ve spent more time outside lately working hardcore on our backyard doing some major landscaping. Lots of water breaks helped us through it. Since being outside so much, the warm weather doesn’t phase me anymore.”
