Dean M. Marney 1931 - 2008 Bonner Springs

Services for Dean Marney, 77, were Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Burial in the Leavenworth National Veteran’s Administration Cemetery in Leavenworth.
Mr. Marney died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at his son’s home in Bonner Springs.
He was born Jan. 2, 1931, near Rossville, Kan., the son of Glen and Ina Marney. He spent most of his childhood years in Rossville. After attending Rossville High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at age 17. He served his country for 20 years during which time he was in in the Korean War and was stationed in Bermuda, Japan, California and various other places around the world.
While stationed in Kansas City, he met Nancy Johnson, who would become his wife of nearly 49 years. After retiring from the Air Force in 1969, they moved to Kansas City, Mo., where they have resided for the past 40 years. Mr. Marney worked at General Motors until his retirement 25 years later. He and his wife spent the last 10 winters in their second home, just outside Phoenix.
He was a member of the Missouri River Boating Association and various prospecting groups.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy, Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Bill, Bonner Springs; a daughter, Anne Williams, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; six grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph, Topeka.
The family suggests memorials to Kansas City Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
