Mildred L. Marshall 1923 - 2008 Basehor

Services for Mildred Lee Marshall, 85, of Basehor, were Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Basehor United Methodist Church. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery in Basehor
Mrs. Marshall died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of James H. and Mabel C. Kirkman. She attended grade and junior high school in Kansas City, Kan. In 1938, she and her family moved to Basehor, and she graduated from Basehor High School in 1941.
She was a homemaker, raising her three children. After her children were in school, she went to work at the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. After retirement, she and her husband traveled. Their trip of a lifetime was a caravan to Alaska and back home again in their R.V.
On Aug. 24, 1941, she married George Marshall Jr. at Basehor Methodist Church. He died in July 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Marshall, Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Roger L. Marshall, Farley, Mo.; a daughter, Jayne Akob, Livingston, Texas; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lois Smith, West Grove, Pa., and Shirley Stevenson, St. Mary’s, Fla.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the church to help fund the hearing assistance program.
