Goldie M. Berlin 1928 - 2008 Bonner Springs

Services for Goldie Marie Berlin, 80, of Bonner Springs, were held Monday, Dec. 29, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Burial was in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Berlin died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Tonganoxie Nursing Home.
She was born March 14, 1928, the daughter of Orville Elzy and Jennie May Varner.
Mrs. Berlin grew up on a farm in Lyndon, Kan. She attended the one room “Jack Rabbit School” in Lyndon and graduated from Lyndon High School in 1946. She earned her teaching degree at the Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kan., and taught school at Douglas, Olathe and Bonner Springs elementary schools.
In 1955, she married George Alfred Berlin and left teaching to stay at home, raise her family and also help with her husband’s business.
Her husband died in 2005.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Journey, Walnut Creek, Calif., Margaret Hastings, Stilwell, and Mary Arcuri, Overland Park; and seven grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
