Billy E. Giddings 1930 - 2008 Basehor

Services for Billy Earl Giddings, 78, of Basehor, were Monday, July 7, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Giddings died Tuesday July 1, 2008, surrounded by his family at the Kansas City Hospice House.
He was born May 19, 1930, in Cedar Point, Kan., the son of Floyd and Myrtle (Riggs) Giddings. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Giddings worked for Young and Cooper Cattle Co. of Wichita, and in 1968 moved to the Kansas City area to work for P.I.E. Trucking Co.
He and his wife moved to Basehor in the early 1970s. Mr. Giddings retired from ABF Freight Lines in 1997.
Mr. Giddings raced go-carts and sprint cars in the area, and in his younger years participated in rodeo.
His wife, Patricia L. (Wilburn) Giddings, two sons William and Chuckie, and a grandson died earlier.
Survivors include three daughters Marcheta Hightower and Bridget Maffry, both of Basehor, and Roxanna Ledbetter, Kansas City, Kan., two sons Michael Winkle, Andover, Kan., and TJ, Dallas; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Kansas City Hospice House, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
