Gayle Ann Hollingsworth 1944 - 2008
Gayle Ann Hollingsworth, age 63, of Tonganoxie, a former Joplin, Mo., resident, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo.
Gayle was born October 25, 1944, in Higginsville, Mo., and lived there 16 years before moving to Tonganoxie in May 2006. She served as a dorm parent at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Mo., for 16 years and had previously served as the office manger for Clark Plumbing Co., in Leavenworth. She was a 1962 graduate of Higginsville High School. She attended Central College of the Bible in Moberly, Mo., and graduated from Ozark Bible College in Joplin in 1966. She was a member of the Tonganoxie Christian Church and formerly was a member of the College Heights Christian Church in Joplin where she served as a worship Leader. She also served as a youth leader and worship leader for the Wallula Christian Church in Lansing. Gayle previously served on the Lansing School Board and was currently serving as a school board member for the Genesis Christian Academy in Tonganoxie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Josephine Pearson, and a brother, Mark Pearson, all of Eldon, Mo.
Gayle was married to Winston Hollingsworth April 3, 1966, in Olean, Mo., and he survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Mike Hollingsworth and wife Michelle, Liberty, Mo., and Wick Hollingsworth and wife Molly, Tonganoxie; two daughters, Beth Hollingsworth, Olathe, and Lea Mielke and husband Mike, Tonganoxie; three brothers, Ed Pearson and wife Jerolie, Mt. Vernon, Mo., Maurice Pearson and wife Barb, Eldon, Mo., and Steve Pearson and wife Julie, Jefferson City, Mo.; four sisters, Brenda Thoman and husband Bob, Higginsville, Mo., Nancy Wingrath and husband John, Henley, Mo., Kevin Grant and husband Dave, Lebanon, Mo., and Robin Fankhauser and husband Don, Odessa, Texas; and six grandchildren; Reece, Houston, Tucker, Olivia, Madison and Gabe.
Memorial services for Gayle were held Tuesday, March 25, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with ministers Rick Bushnell, Ed Pearson and Don Fankhauser officiating. The family received friends following the service at the Church. A second memorial service was held Wednesday, March 26, at the Tonganoxie Christian Church with minister Dirk Scates officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
