Raymond Thomas 1920 - 2008 Basehor

Services for Raymond Thomas, 88, of Basehor, were Monday, Nov. 17, at Stony Point Church of Christ, Kansas City, Kan. Burial was in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, Shawnee.
Mr. Thomas died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at his home due to complication of Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born Sept. 14, 1920, near Long Lane, Mo. He moved in 1946 to Kansas City, Kan., and then in 1959 to Basehor, where he farmed for almost 50 years. Mr. Thomas also worked for 32 years at the General Motors Fairfax Plant.
His daughter, Karen Bartlett, died earlier.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lela Thomas; three daughters, Pamela Freeman, Janet Atkins and Cindy Whited; a son, Brian Thomas; two brothers, Loran and Howard Thomas; a sister, Zelma Larimer; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Luke’s Hospice of Leavenworth, sent in care of Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112.
